Message boards and Twitter feeds are providing epidemiologists new insights into things like what breast-cancer and prostate-cancer patients are saying and doing with herbal and nutritional supplements, says LDI Senior Fellow John Holmes in a Wall Street Journal article. The associate professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Penn's Perelman School of Medicine is investigating social media streams as sources of potentially useful behavioral data.
