Mitesh Patel, Penn News, Value-Based GME Curriculum

  • Friday, 31 August 2012

The national effort to drive down health care costs hasn't filtered very deeply into the world of graduate medical education yet -- a fact that LDI Senior Fellow Mitesh Patel, MD, MBA, and his team are trying to change. His latest article in the Journal of General Internal Medicine lays out a framework for a value-based GME curriculum. It can be used by physician trainees to assess whether a medical intervention is likely to improve patient outcomes while keeping costs down. Patel is a physician and Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Penn's Perelman School of Medicine. Also read the  Penn Medicine news release.
