Robert Field, Philadelphia Inquirer, Declining Uninsured

  • Friday, 21 September 2012

Almost half a million fewer Americans lacked health insurance coverage in 2011 than 2010, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer article by LDI Senior Fellow Robert Field. Citing new Census Bureau data released last week, he notes the number of people without coverage fell from 49.9 million to 48.6 million. The factors Field credits for the decrease are expanding government insurance programs, the slowing of health care inflation and the implementation of various parts of the Affordable Care Act. Field, PhD, JD, MPH, is a Drexel University law professor.
