Ralph Muller, American Public Media, Patient Satisfaction

In an appearance on American Public Media's Marketplace radio show, LDI Senior Fellow and University of Pennsylvania Health System CEO Ralph Muller discussed the new importance of patient satisfaction. The program explored the financial penalties hospitals now face for poor patient satisfaction scores. In addition to financial incentives for patient satisfaction, Muller noted that focusing on those issues also provides a competitive edge in a crowded health care market. “There are 50 hospitals in the region. So our focus on patient care, that’s a way of attracting and retaining patients," he said.
