The night before the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI) opened its Oct. 5 & 6th 50th Anniversary Symposium on the theme of “Shaping The Future of Health Care,” it hosted a reception for the dozens of speakers and sponsors involved in the event. Held on the 28th floor garden terrace of the new FMC building on the edge of the Penn campus, the event overlooked the PECO Crown Lights display that was running a “Penn LDI: 50 Years of Health Policy Leadership” message. The message can be partially seen in the distance through the windows on the left.

Located at 30th and Walnut Streets, the FMC building (above, left) is situated on the west bank of the Schulykill River and narrows to form a wide terrace at its 28th floor. Like the building, the terrace is nearly a block long (above, right) and features a marble fire pit and a boardwalked sprawl of gardens and seating areas.
