Rachel Werner Wins AFMR Outstanding Investigator Award

LDI Senior Fellow Rachel Werner, MD, PhD, has won the 2013 American Federation of Medical Research (AFMR) Outstanding Investigator Award.

The honor annually singles out a person age 45 or younger judged to be the most outstanding medical scientist in any field.

The award, which comes with a $5,000 honorarium, will be presented at the joint Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS) and AFMR Translational Science 2013 meeting in Washington, D.C., later this month.

Werner, an Associate Professor of Medicine at Penn's Perelman School of Medicine was cited for her intellectual and scientific independence and the innovative insight and significant impact of her work in clinical and translational science.

Previous Penn winners of the Outstanding Investigator Award include Katrina Armstrong, Jonathan Epstein, Mitchell Lazar and David Asch.
