Margaret Lee is currently a DMD candidate in the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Human Biology. After graduation, Margaret worked on researching parasite disease ecology and ecological immunology at Kyoto University, Japan.
Through numerous shadowing experiences of dentists around the world, Margaret became interested in improving health care coverage, especially for dental care. She also hopes to improve patient comfort, develop better health care policies, and provide more health care options to the underprivileged.
During SUMR, Margaret will be working with Dr. Claudio Lucarelli, aiming to better understand healthcare systems and the industrial organization of health care markets. Through an extensive comparison of health care systems around the world, Margaret aspires to improve dental care coverage in the US, and ultimately make dental care more accessible to all.
Outside of school, Margaret enjoys international traveling, tutoring math, playing the piano, and origami.
