Alayna Veeck
Alayna Veeck is a rising senior at Indiana University Bloomington pursuing dual BS degrees in Statistics and Finance through the Kelley School of Business Honors Program, along with a minor in Mathematics. As a four-time National Scholar, she is passionate about computational statistics, data science, and machine learning, particularly their applications to neurodegenerative disease, immunology, longevity, and human performance. Her goal is to pursue a PhD and publish novel research that improves decision-making, preventive health, personalized care, and overall quality of life.
As a 2026 SUMR Scholar, Veeck works full-time with Dr. Dylan Small at the newly established Wharton Causal Data Science Lab (WCDSL), supported by the Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative. The lab advances the science of causal inference and its application to business and policy challenges, including long-term health outcomes, risk analysis, and behavioral and environmental determinants of well-being. Veeck’s SUMR research focuses on developing new quantitative and mathematical methods to improve the identification of cause-and-effect relationships in complex real-world settings.
Veeck is also a two-time participant in the IU Directed Reading Program, where she studies measure-theoretic probability alongside graduate students, and she has received first place in the IU Annual Research Poster Competition. In her free time, she enjoys exercising with her WHOOP fitness watch, playing electric guitar, and solving chess puzzles.
