Ella Zhuo

Major: Nursing and Economics

Ella Zhuo is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a BS in Nursing and a BS in Economics at the Wharton School. Her interests lie at the intersection of health policy, reducing health disparities, and improving access to care for underserved patients. After graduation, Ella hopes to pursue a career in emergency medicine and explore how clinical research can inform her future practice. 

As a SUMR scholar, Ella works with Dr. Jamaji Nwanaji-Enwerem on a project examining the impact of electronic emergency department discharge practices on patient outcomes to improve access and quality. 

At Penn, Ella serves as co-president of Community Champions, an organization for nursing students that provided meaningful opportunities to address social determinants of health through community engagement in various Philadelphia communities. She is also a volunteer and student research assistant in CHOP’s ED. In her free time, she likes to run, take photos, and go on walks.
