Farhan Babur
Farhan Babur is a student at Arizona State University pursuing an MS in Molecular and Cellular Biology after recently graduating with a BS in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. He is particularly interested in health policy, healthcare delivery, and systems design, and hopes to pursue these interests through a career in medicine.
At SUMR, Farhan works with Dr. Matthew McHugh to examine the state of nursing in rural hospitals and its effects on patient outcomes. Additionally, through the Mixed Methods Research Lab, he participates in qualitative and mixed-methods research.
At Arizona State University, Farhan conducts research on hospital consolidation and value-based care with the ASU Center for Healthcare Delivery and Policy and serves as a teaching assistant for a course in Science, Technology, and Public Affairs. Through the Rege and Yaron labs, he also studies histamine’s role in endothelial permeability. With research spanning vascular biology, value-based healthcare, and global surgery, Farhan is especially interested in the intersection of science, healthcare, and policy in both domestic and global contexts.
In his free time, Farhan enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
