Hodon Hassan

Hodon Hassan is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania studying Health and Societies. Her interests include examining how socioeconomic status and race influence healthcare outcomes and developing public health solutions to address disparities in treatment. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in pediatric medicine focused on addressing these inequities in clinical settings serving children.

As a SUMR scholar, Hodon works with Dr. Joanne Wood on the CAPNET research team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn, a multicenter research network dedicated to conducting collaborative research aimed at improving the effectiveness, safety, and equity of care for potentially abused children and their families.

At Penn, Hodon enjoys exploring Philadelphia’s cultural and historic sites and serves as president of the university’s recently founded chapter of Amnesty International USA. She is also a student research assistant at CHOP’s PolicyLab. In her free time, Hodon enjoys baking and thrifting.
