Kiara Taylor

Kiara Taylor is a senior at University of Notre Dame majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior with a minor in Health, Humanities, and Society. She is passionate about addressing healthcare disparities in communities of color through both research and clinical practice. Taylor hopes to contribute to improving healthcare in the United States by expanding access to quality care for vulnerable populations.

As a SUMR scholar, Taylor is working on two projects. Alongside Danielle Sands and Dr. Erkoboni in the Literacy Lab, she conducts quantitative research focused on promoting early literacy in pediatric primary care. She also works with Kimberly Arnold Jenkins on The Black Church Mental Health Assets and Needs Assessment Project, which seeks to address disparities in mental healthcare for Black Americans.

At Notre Dame, Taylor is a member of Dr. Nicole McNeil’s Cognition, Learning, and Development Lab and serves as a literacy tutor at a local elementary school. She also volunteers regularly at a memory care facility and an infusion clinic. In addition, she has spent the past four semesters working as a photographer for Strike Notre Dame, the university’s student-led fashion magazine.

In her free time, Taylor enjoys visiting new cafés, exploring the outdoors, photography, and listening to music.
