Srijay Chenna

University of Pennsylvania , Class of 2028

Major: Bioengineering and Business Economics & Public Policy

Srijay Chenna is a rising junior from Newark, Delaware pursuing a dual degree through University of Pennsylvania’s Management & Technology program. He studies Bioengineering and Business Economics & Public Policy across the School of Engineering and Applied Science and The Wharton School, with the goal of applying technology to address gaps in comprehensive, high-quality healthcare. With extensive experience in deep-tech research, Srijay is particularly interested in studying policy as a tool for implementing emerging biotechnologies.

During SUMR, Srijay will work on two projects. Alongside Joseph Rossano at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Cardiac Center, he will focus on areas including interventional cardiology, advanced imaging, heart failure, and heart transplantation. The goal of this work is to ensure that technological innovation translates into improved patient outcomes and reduced healthcare disparities. He will also work with Eileen Lake on projects centered on improving patient outcomes.

These experiences build on Srijay’s broader involvement across campus and the Philadelphia community. He is a student fellow at Perry World House, founder of the Cell Initiative program at the Philadelphia Education Fund, and a member of the impact committee for the Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club.

Outside of academics, Srijay enjoys playing the piano, sim racing, and exploring Philadelphia.
