Tulah Jefferson

Tulah Jefferson is a rising junior at Emory University studying Human Health with a focus in data science and a minor in Religious Studies. She is interested in studying how social determinants shape health outcomes for underserved communities and in transforming healthcare delivery to better serve these populations. Tulah is also interested in improving the distribution of public and philanthropic resources to strengthen healthcare delivery on both domestic and global scales.

This summer, Tulah is working with two research centers at Penn Medicine. Under Ayosola O. Ajayi and her team at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Equity Advancement, Tulah analyzes healthcare delivery experiences through the Learning Health System (LHS) across 16 centers nationwide. She also works with Erich Dress and the Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center, contributing to the dissemination of two health equity studies to various stakeholders in order to help develop interventions that address barriers to clinical trial participation.

At Emory, Tulah serves as a team lead and executive member for 180 Degrees Consulting, a nonprofit consulting organization. She is also a member of Health Oriented Business Students (HOBS) and tutors students in local public schools. In addition, she conducts research on the impact of healthcare policy on African Americans with cardiovascular disease in the Atlanta region.

Outside of academics, Tulah is involved in Ngambika, a step and community outreach organization, and Alas de un Mismo Pájaro, an Afro-Latinx dance team. In her free time, she enjoys Sudoku, hiking, traveling, and arts and crafts.
