Daniel Hyman, MD, MMM

Daniel Hyman, MD, MMM serves as the Chief Safety and Quality Officer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. This is Dr. Hyman’s third role at CHOP. He completed his pediatric training there in 1986–1989 after graduating from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He returned to CHOP on a part-time basis to serve as the Medical Director for CHOP’s Physician Hospital Organization, Children’s Health Net, from 1996–2002 while in private practice at Erdenheim Pediatrics. Dr. Hyman most recently served as Chief Medical and Patient Safety Officer at Children’s Hospital Colorado (2008–2020). He previously served as the Chief Children’s Quality Officer and the Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Care at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Hyman is a member of the Clinical Steering Team for the Children’s Hospital Solutions for Patient Safety (Hospital Engagement) Network, and co-chairs their Measurement Committee. He helped develop and then co-directed the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars Program. Dr. Hyman earned a Master’s degree in Medical Management from Tulane University.
