Heidi Harvie, MD, MSCE

Heidi S. Harvie MD, MSCE is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine, and is the Director of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital. Her research focuses on pelvic floor disorders and cost effectiveness, including conducting cost-effectiveness analysis within randomized controlled trials. She is the Principal Investigator and member of the Steering Committee for the NICHD-sponsored Pelvic Floor Disorders Network (PFDN), a national network of seven research sites for conducting randomized clinical trials in pelvic floor disorders. She is Chair of cost-effectiveness protocols for clinical trials within the PFDN, including ROSETTA (comparative effectiveness of botulinum toxin vs. sacral nerve stimulation for urge incontinence), CAPABLe (loperamide vs. anal exercises for fecal incontinence), ESTEEM (midurethral sling vs. sling plus behavioral intervention for mixed urinary incontinence), SUPeR (vaginal hysterectomy and uterosacral ligament suspension vs. mesh hysteropexy for uterovaginal prolapse), ASPIRe (sacral colpopexy, transvaginal mesh, and native tissue apical repair for vault prolapse), and MUSA (midurethral sling vs. Botox for mixed urinary incontinence).

After graduating from the Perelman School of Medicine and receiving her Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School, Dr. Harvie completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania.
