Sara Handley, MD is an attending physician in the Division of Neonatology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is also a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) degree candidate (Class of 2019) at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Handley’s research is in neonatal health services research and epidemiology, with a focus on outcome variation. She is particularly interested in identification and measurement of structure and process based drivers of neonatal and perinatal outcome variation. Under the mentorship of Drs. Scott Lorch and Sindhu Srinivas she is currently studying the impact of regionalized maternal (obstetric) care on maternal and infant outcomes.
Dr. Handley received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She completed her medical training at the University of Minnesota Medical School, pediatric residency at the University of California San Francisco and neonatology fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
