Resident Physician, Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Perelman School of Medicine

Dr. Brown is a resident physician at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, and a Dripps Scholar. She received her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine PhD from the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. During her PhD she investigated how transitions into and out of the ICU contribute to poor outcomes among patients with acute respiratory failure, and whether quality of care is affected by ICU workload. Her dissertation on the Epidemiology of ICU Readmissions in the United States was instrumental in their rejection as a national quality indicator for ICUs by CMS. After residency she will be pursuing a clinical fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at CHOP. Her current research seeks to improve perioperative outcomes and care delivery among children with complex chronic medical conditions, specifically focusing on the delivery of anesthesia in non-operating room environments.
