Timothy Gaulton, MD, MSCE is an assistant professor in the department of Anesthesiology and Critical care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His research interest is in preoperative risk assessment and understanding recovery after critical illness, traumatic injury and surgery. His research to date has focused on how obesity alters the risk of postoperative complications, specifically functional decline using longitudinal social and disability data. He is currently examining novel outcomes after acute illness using driving data and simulation. He received his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and also a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology with a focus on Pharmacoepidemiology. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and a fellowship in critical care medicine at Penn. He joined the faculty in 2018.
