Ankur A. Shah, MD, MBA is a resident physician in the Division of Urology’s training program at the University of Pennsylvania. He attended an 8-year combined degree BS/MD/MBA program at Union College (NY) and Albany Medical College through which he obtained a BS in Biology and Sociology and an MBA in Healthcare Management. Dr. Shah was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha during his last year of medical school and graduated among the top of his class. He is starting his third year of surgical training in July 2020. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy, and urologic oncology. His research interests include patient safety, quality improvement and organizational efficiency. He has presented at regional and national meetings of the American Urological Association and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Shah was also recently selected for the Healthcare Leadership in Quality Track at Penn, a two-year experiential program for leadership development with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety. In addition, he is a representative for the Division of Urology on the Housestaff Patient Safety Collaborative within Penn Medicine and has been working to promote a culture of safety within his division and the health system overall.
