Colleen V. Anusiewicz, PhD, RN is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR) in the School of Nursing. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar. Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, Dr. Anusiewicz was an inpatient staff nurse on an adult hospitalist unit at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. During her time as a nurse at the bedside, Dr. Anusiewicz became acutely aware of how the work environment can influence a nurse’s ability to provide high-quality, safe patient care. Her dissertation explored the nursing work environment and patient outcomes associated with nurse-reported workplace bullying. Building from her predoctoral work, her current research interests focus on the importance of nursing in the delivery of quality health care and improved patient outcomes.
