Hanae Fujii-Rios, MD is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Her research interests are in social emergency medicine with focus on addressing child health disparity and health policy issues from a pediatric emergency medicine perspective, population health and quality improvement. She earned her Master’s of Public Health in Chronic Disease Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health. She completed her medical school training at Boston University School of Medicine and pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins. During her time at Johns Hopkins, she conducted a pilot study that screened for food insecurity and provided groceries and community food resources to families in the pediatric emergency department. This study led to the development of a food pantry at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and a committee dedicated to further expanding this food pantry for the entire hospital.
