Jenny Ruiz, MD is a fellow in hematology and oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is a Master’s candidate in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her long-term goal is to be an independent investigator pursing epidemiological and health services research in pediatric leukemia with a focus on health equity. Her research thus far has focused on understanding septic shock disparities in children with leukemia, which is funded by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Young Investigator Grant. More recently, she was selected for the Abramson Cancer Center’s Paul Calabresi Career Development Award for Clinical Oncology K12 grant and the Conquer Cancer of ASCO Young Investigator Award, which will support her research as she transitions from fellow to instructor.
Dr. Ruiz is passionate about diversifying the health care workforce. She is an Executive Board member of the UPHS-CHOP Alliance of Minority Physicians and co-leads their mentoring program. Additionally, she is a member of the CHOP Cancer Center Diversity committee and the CHOP Graduate Medical Education Diversity sub-committee.
Dr. Ruiz received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and completed her residency training in general pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia University Medical Center.
