Nancy Aitcheson, MD, MSHP

Nancy Aitcheson, MD, MSHP is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine and an Infectious Diseases physician, with a focus in HIV. She is based at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in West Philadelphia. Outside of her clinical commitments, she is involved in work to address the HIV epidemic in Philadelphia and is funded by Ending the HIV Epidemic grant from the city of Philadelphia. This work involves increasing routine HIV screening in emergency departments across the city, improving systems for linkage to care, and innovating strategies to re-engage patients in care. She recently received a grant from the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and the Philadelphia Department of Health to study HIV testing in emergency departments across the city.

Dr. Aitcheson received her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine in 2015. She completed her internal medicine residency, with focus in Global Health and Primary Care, at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. She stayed at Penn for her fellowship in Infectious Diseases and post doctoral research. She completed her Master’s of Science in Health Policy in 2021, with an additional fellowship in the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety.
