Nate C. Apathy, PhD is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine. He is also an Affiliated Scientist at the Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Apathy conducts research in the domains of health services research, health policy, and health informatics. His health services research focuses on the role of health information technology (IT) in support of delivery and payment reform efforts like accountable care organizations (ACOs) and patient-centered medical homes (PCMHs). His policy interests focus on the impact of health IT regulations on sectoral innovation, technology adoption, and use of IT systems. His informatics research leverages system-generated log data to increase understanding of how health IT use impacts health care quality. His dissertation focused on health information exchange (HIE) use in primary care, to explore provider rates of HIE use and the extent to which current HIE tools support PCMH delivery reforms. He holds a PhD in Health Policy & Management from the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University.
