Rabie Shanti, DMD, MD is an oral, maxillofacial, and head and neck surgeon who holds dual appointments in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Penn Dental Medicine, and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Penn Medicine, and currently serves as the Vice Chair for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Shanti’s clinical expertise includes the evaluation and surgical treatment of tumors of the head and neck, as well as, advanced inflammatory conditions of the jaws. Dr. Shanti’s clinical practice is also devoted to microvascular reconstructive surgery of the head and neck following oncologic surgery, radiation injury, or trauma. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Shanti is involved in both clinical and translational research efforts that aim to enhance access to comprehensive oral rehabilitation in patients with benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity, as well as, the development of novel strategies in the regeneration of oral myomucosal tissues. Dr. Shanti is also engaged in several studies focused on investigating the pathogenesis of benign tumors of the jaw and oral cancer.
