Penn Nursing School Professor Wins National Mentoring Award at AcademyHealth

Matthew McHugh Honored for Work With Young Investigators

University of Pennsylvania Nursing School Associate Professor and Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI) Senior Fellow Matthew McHugh was awarded the 2017 AcademyHealth Mentoring Award at a ceremony at the organization's Annual Research Meeting at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Conference Center yesterday evening.

The award, which recognizes the contributions of a senior scientist to the career development of young investigators engaged in research, was given by the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Nursing Issues (IRGNI). IRGNI is AcademyHealth’s largest research interest group.

McHugh, PhD, JD, MPH, RN, CRNP, FAAN, is the Associate Director of the Nursing School's Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR). 

CHOPR Director Linda Aiken, also a Nursing School professor and LDI Senior Fellow, characterized McHugh as "a wonderful and generous mentor for students and faculty alike and is most deserving of this national recognition in health services and policy research."
