LDI Senior Fellow and Associate Dean for Academic Policies of Penn's School of Dental Medicine Joan Gluch has announced receipt of a $1.5 million grant to fund scholarships for dental students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Penn's is one of three dental schools to receive such grants from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration this year.

Gluch, PhD and Director of Community Oral Health at the school, told Penn News the program is designed to foster student diversity, increase access to studies for underrepresented minorities, and motivate students to consider practicing in underserved areas after graduation.
