Although the two-century-old seashore hotel dates to 1816, the current version of Cape May's Congress Hall was erected in 1878 and had a basement packed with an iron jungle of Victorian Age boiler equipment. When a modern heating system was installed in recent decades, the former boiler room was turned into the "Boiler Room Bar & Lounge," a steampunk-like space where the Roybal Retreat held its reception.

After unwinding from an afternoon team-building game that had them running around a rain-soaked central Cape May, attendees headed for the Congress Hall banquet room for a late dinner.
