Eric Shan is a junior at the University Pennsylvania, where he is studying Management, Finance, and Operations Management in the Wharton School. He is interested in hospital and biotech management as well as health policy and economics. Eric has extensive experience with translational science research and is excited to explore another area of health care research through the SUMR program. In the future, he is interested in pursuing a dual degree medical program.
During the summer, he worked with Dr. Amol Navathe. Under Dr. Navathe’s guidance, he used clinical data for algorithm development for the prediction of in hospital post-surgical complications. Moreover, he worked on provider incentive experiments and payment policy analyses.
On campus, Eric continues to explore the intersection of health care and business through one of his clubs. Additionally, he plans and leads community engagement trips, and he runs science competitions for high school students. In his spare time, he is interested in exploring new food, places, and ideas.
