Sophie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013, where she majored in Biological Basis of Behavior and minored in Economics and Health Care/Health Management. Sophie has strong research interests in delivering health care efficiently to a wider population.
During her SUMR experience, Sophie worked with Dr. Meghan Lane-Fall, an anesthesiologist at HUP, to better understand how ICU staffing model affect the outcomes of severely injured trauma patients. In addition, she did health care economic research with Jonathan Kolstad, PhD assistant professor of Health Care Management, on the topic of how information and management practice affect quality of care.
Coming from a family of first generation immigrants, Sophie would like to obtain her MD degree in the future, along with the knowledge of healthcare management, to provide better care for people of new-immigrant background. In her free time, Sophie likes to spend time with friends, do community services with American Medical Women’s Association, and mentor an adopted Chinese child through ChinaCare.
