Lisa Lewis, PhD, RN, FAAN
Penn Nursing School Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion Lisa Lewis has been a strong supporter of the SUMR program and its focus on increasing diversity throughout the health services research field. She is a behavioral nurse scientist with an active program of research to reduce racial disparities in blood pressure control. Using mostly community-based research methods, she studies determinants of medication adherence in blacks living with hypertension with an emphasis on psychosocial and clinical factors such as depression, self-efficacy, social support, spirituality and perceived discrimination. She is also an educator. Her main focus is to prepare nursing students who provide health care to diverse populations. Lewis is a member of the Steering Committee for the SUMR 20th Anniversary Conference taking place in late July, 2019.
