Machine Learning 101

Institute for Biomedical Informatics experts will be conducting an introductory workshop tailored for LDI senior fellows and those interested in applying machine learning methods in their research projects in health policy, health economics, or health services research. The learning objectives of the workshop are to introduce the concept and language of machine learning, discuss how machine learning methods differ from traditional statistical methods and when machine learning adds value over traditional methods, review challenges that may arise when using a machine learning approach, and identify the tools needed to conduct research using machine learning techniques.
