Building Wealth, Building Health
Virtual Conversation with Amy Castro, PhD, Lucy Marcil, MD, MPH, and Ioana Marinescu, PhD, moderated by George Dalembert, MD, MSHP
The connection between wealth and health was never more evident than during the pandemic. As the temporary expansion of the child tax credit lifts millions of families out of poverty, policymakers are debating more permanent measures to build wealth in disadvantaged communities, such as “baby bonds” and guaranteed income. The impact on health and health care could be dramatic. This panel discussed the evidence surrounding wealth and health, real-world experiences in building wealth as a way to improve health, and the role of health care providers in addressing their patients’ financial needs.
