Hansel Otero, MD is a core faculty member of the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Otero practiced as a general practitioner in Venezuela and as an emergency response physician with Doctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Liberia, Darfur-Sudan, Angola, Yemen, and Pakistan. He is a practicing pediatric diagnostic radiologist with a special interest in international outreach and health services research, including adoption of new technologies, variability, and disparities in imaging services and radiology related outcomes in children. He has over 90 peer-reviewed publications including more than 40 related to health services. Dr. Otero received his MD from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He did his diagnostic radiology residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and his pediatric radiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
