Ari Borthakur, PhD, MBA is the Associate Director of the Center For Advanced Metabolic Imaging in Precision Medicine (CAMIPM) in the Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine. He has over 30 years of experience leading teams to solve complex biomedical problems.
Dr. Borthakur leverages innovative business models in order to add value to the field of radiology by improving efficiency, revenue, and patient outcomes. His work in implementing artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time analysis of patients’ images won a Radiology Business Journal 2020 Imaging Innovation Award and the CIO 2024 prize. He co-leads Penn’s Imaging Appropriate Use Criteria Program mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to ensure appropriate use of imaging services for the patient’s condition in order to help reduce unnecessary care and costs.
Dr. Borthakur holds a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania.
