Catherine “Katie” Vanchiere, MD, MA is a Clinical Fellow in the Penn Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at the Perelman School of Medicine. Her research agenda centers on investigating the mechanisms which enable persistence of cardiovascular health inequities utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods through a community-based participatory research model. Ultimately, Dr. Vanchiere’s goal is to distill this work into actionable steps to improve cardiovascular health equity and drive enduring change through collaborative relationships with health systems and political leaders.

Dr. Vanchiere received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. During her internship, residency, and chief resident year in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital, she concurrently earned a Master of Art in Urban Bioethics. Through this program, Dr. Vanchiere’s passion grew for addressing pervasive, unethical health disparities through community engagement.
