George Koshy, DO, MPH, is a Research Fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the impact of hospital closures on surrounding health systems, identifying the drivers behind these closures, and developing interventions to mitigate downstream effects. He is also interested in reimbursement models that sustain value-based care. In 2025, he was honored with the Resident of the Year Award by the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians in recognition of his contributions to education, leadership, and advocacy.
Koshy earned his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Drexel University and his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where he served as Academic Chief Resident, playing a key role in advancing medical education and supporting departmental operations. Beyond residency, Koshy has held multiple leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians and as a member of Geisinger’s Continuing Education Activity Planning Committee.
