Hojjat Salmasian, MD, PhD is Vice President and Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania. A primary care physician and medical informaticist by background, Dr. Salmasian’s research focuses on health care quality and patient safety, and the role of health IT and artificial intelligence in measuring and improving the quality and safety of health care. 

At CHOP, Salmasian leads the analytics services, data platforms and engineering, data literacy and governance, and data science teams that collectively make up CHOP’s Data and Analytics (DnA) team. He also leads AI strategy and governance at CHOP. He is an elected Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association and an elected Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. He has been supported by multiple federal and industry grants and has coauthored more than 140 scientific publications. Dr. Salmasian earned his MD and MPH from Tehran University, and his PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University.
