Jerry S. Rosenbloom, PhD is the Frederick H. Ecker Emeritus Professor of Insurance and Risk Management and Academic Director of the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) Program, at the Wharton School of the University Of Pennsylvania. He also is a Senior Fellow in the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and a Senior Fellow in the Financial Institutions Center at the Wharton School. Dr. Rosenbloom also is a past Chairman of the Insurance and Risk Management Department at Wharton. He is the past Executive Director of the S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education and a past Executive Director of the Pension Research Council at the Wharton School.
Prior to Wharton, he taught at Temple University and also became Chairman of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Temple. He received the 2011 H. Wayne Snider Distinguished Alumni Award from Temple University’s Risk, Insurance and Health Care Management Department.
Dr. Rosenbloom completed his undergraduate education and a year of graduate work at Temple University and received his MA and PhD degrees in applied Economics with a concentration in Insurance from the University of Pennsylvania, studying under a Huebner Foundation Fellowship. He holds the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter(CLU) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Dr. Rosenbloom has served on many insurance and reinsurance company boards of directors, mutual fund and other firms’ Boards of Directors. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the American College and currently serves on the Board of the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters and is a past Chairman of that Board. He also serve on the Board of Trustees of Century Funds mutual fund until 2017 and was on the Boards of Directors of the Harleysville Mutual and Group Insurance Companies until April 2012. He was an Advisory Board Director for Nationwide insurance Company from 2012-2014 and an Advisory Director for the International Foundation of Employée Benefit Plans from 2913-2016.
He currently is working on ways to improve the United States health care system and is revising books on health care and other employee benefits where he is an author, coauthor or editor.
