Joao Victor Antunes Lopes

João Victor Antunes Lopes is a first-year PhD student in Demography in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the relationship between socioeconomic status and health and mortality, issues of data quality in demographic research, and the application of formal demographic methods, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Before joining Penn, he was part of the 2024-2025 cohort of the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD). He holds a Master’s in Demography in Public Administration from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil.
