Nicholas (Nick) Kuhl, MD is a fellow in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as well as a graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) program within the Perelman School of Medicine. His primary research interests center on the intersection of health equity and implementation science in the intensive care unit (ICU). His current work focuses on understanding the mechanisms that underscore differences in ICU sedation practices and critical care outcomes among historically marginalized patients.

Born in Kentucky and then raised in Parkland, Florida, Kuhl originally came to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for internal medicine residency followed by a year as chief resident. Prior to his time at Penn, Kuhl went to undergrad at Vanderbilt University where he received Bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience and Spanish. He subsequently received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
