Genevieve Kanter is an economist whose research focuses on policy questions related to physician-industry relationships and conflicts of interest in medicine. Other research interests include pharmaceutical and medical device policy, physician behavior, problems of physician agency, and empirical ethics. Methodologically, she specializes in statistical methods used for causal inference.

She is Research Assistant Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Penn, she was on the faculty of the University of Colorado and of Drexel University. She has also held research fellow appointments at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Princeton University. She received a PhD in Economics and in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
