Ashwin Nathan, MD, MS is an Interventional Cardiologist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and at the Corporal Michael C. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Perelman School of Medicine, and a member of the Penn Cardiovascular Outcomes, Quality & Evaluative Research Center. His clinical interests include structural heart interventions including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, transcatheter mitral valve replacement, transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement, transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement, closure of atrial septal defects, PFOs, ventricular septal defects, and alcohol septal ablations. He performs outcomes and health policy research related to the emergence and use of novel technologies and pharmacotherapies, with a specific focus on matters of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic inequities in care. He is the author of over 54 original research manuscripts, reviews, and editorials. His original research has been published in JAMA, Circulation, JACC, and JAMA Cardiology, among others.
Dr. Nathan earned a Doctorate in Medicine from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained a Master’s in the Science of Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.
