Celsea Tibbitt, PhD, RN is an NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing’s Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research. Her research is dedicated to achieving maternal health equity. She is passionate about developing and implementing innovative patient-centered care models tailored to birthgivers and families disproportionately affected by maternal mortality and morbidity. Dr. Tibbitt’s work is grounded in reproductive justice and intersectionality frameworks.
With a diverse clinical background, Dr. Tibbitt has served as a public health nurse, nurse case manager, clinical instructor, and nurse supervisor. She has worked with a wide range of patients, including those who are pregnant or postpartum, unhoused, imprisoned, living with serious mental illness and substance use disorder, engaging in survival sex work, and living with HIV. These experiences inspired her to pursue a PhD at Northeastern University to leverage research in advocating for communities and populations most at risk for health disparities. Dr. Tibbitt is most proud of her role as mama to her two sons and enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, finding new music, and bringing people together.
