“Too Late to Change? Financial risks and mediating factors for health shocks and health behaviors among older adults”

Dr. Richards completed his MD and MPH degrees at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is now pursuing a PhD in health economics at Yale University. His prior and current research interests span a diverse set of health policy topics, which include: physician labor market composition and payment structures, adverse medical events and medical malpractice, patient safety and provider quality revelation, and the consequences and influences of health behaviors. Some of his recent work can be found within the pages of Health Affairs, Medical Care, Medical Care Research and Review, Health Care Management Review, Health Economics Policy & Law, and Applied Health Economics and Health Policy. His work has also been followed by popular media outlets, such as the New York Times, CNN, Los Angeles Times, and National Public Radio.
