
Orlando De Hoyos
Orlando De Hoyos is a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Healthcare Reform and Innovation. With a strong interest in transforming healthcare delivery, he seeks to leverage business principles to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes across healthcare systems. After graduation, he plans to complete his MBA and pursue a career in healthcare administration.
De Hoyos is working with Dr. Jasmine Travers on a project evaluating the effectiveness of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) in nursing homes, with a particular focus on its impact on residents living with dementia. Additionally, he is collaborating with Eda Algur on her PhD work, which examines how clinical teams in operating rooms learn from near misses and improve over time.
At the University of Texas at Austin, De Hoyos serves as the Vice President of Consulting for the Texas Business Healthcare Association. In this position, he has had the opportunity, support the operational growth of both local Austin clinics and national organizations, such as the Alzheimer’s Association. His work involves assessing organizational challenges, developing strategic solutions, and mentoring junior consultants. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and watching his favorite team, FC Barcelona.
