Sheel Trivedi (he/him), from Orlando, Florida, is a rising junior at Yale College majoring in Neuroscience with a Certificate in Global Health Studies. He is interested in healthcare equity, specifically understanding how to better support aging populations through access to caregiving and aiding caregivers. As an aspiring physician, he hopes to combine his interests in medicine and public health to advocate for and serve minority and underrepresented communities.

As a GEAR UP Scholar, Trivedi works with Dr. Harsha Thirumurthy to develop a survey protocol and questionnaire assessing perceptions of health for older adults with HIV in the Philadelphia area. Additionally, Trivedi works with Dr. Pilar Gonalons-Pons to investigate the economic care work penalties of caregiving on younger adults and spouse pairs.

At Yale, Trivedi works with Dr. William Cafferty in studying how rehabilitation affects corticospinal tract neuroplasticity in a mice model. In addition, Trivedi works as a Student Fellow at the South Asian Studies Council, is Co-President of South Asian Society, and volunteers at an Alzheimer’s care center. In his free time, he enjoys trying out new restaurants, biking, and chatting with friends.
