Tyra Gravesande
Tyra Gravesande is majoring in Comparative Women’s Studies at Spelman College. A first-generation Guyanese American from Edison, New Jersey, Gravesande is a passionate and proactive advocate for women’s health, reproductive rights and safety, social determinants in Black and brown communities, climate change for the indigenous, and criminal justice reform for BIPOC individuals.
At Spelman, Gravesande is committed to cultivating and fostering love for her HBCU. She serves on the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program Executive Board, is a Spelman College Social Justice Fellow, and is the Membership Development Chair of Gifted Girls of Grace, Inc. She is excited to begin fostering her recent passion for environmental justice, especially in regard to the environmental disadvantages that harm BIPOC communities.
