Columbia University , Class of 2027

Major: Operations Research, Computer Science

Victor Gelpi is a junior at Columbia University studying Operations Research with a concentration in Analytics, alongside a second major in Computer Science. His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data analytics, data quality, and healthcare, with a focus on using technology to improve health outcomes and drive meaningful impact.

This summer, Gelpi is working with Dr. Ari Friedman at the IDEAA Lab to evaluate the use of LLMs for screening cognitive impairment in older adults. He is helping to develop a system for testing the reliability and clinical alignment of AI-driven questionnaires, contributing to the lab’s mission of improving acute care for older adults through intelligent diagnostic tools.

He is also working with Dr. Ernesto Ulloa-Perez to evaluate staggered implementations of health programs and policies. His role involves learning and applying modern statistical methods for causal inference, including the use of R to analyze healthcare interventions that do not start simultaneously across units like hospitals or clinics.

Victor is a co-founder of ZeroError.ai, a data quality platform that uses AI-powered auditing tools to identify and resolve complex data issues across industries, including healthcare. Gelpi is also a data and video analyst for the Columbia Women’s Basketball team and coaches two highschool sports teams in Harlem. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with friends.
